Class Descriptions

Twinkle Babies™ – ages 2-3:  A 45-minute introductory dance class that is unique and valuable in the dance industry. The secret to the class is that it is structured and fun!  It contains ballet and creative movement. Young dancers learn the necessary steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment.  Engaging music is used to get these little dancers inspired to dance. The use of props such as “dancing bears,” hula hoops and maracas, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun!

Twinkle Stars™ – ages 3-4, 4-5, & 5-6:  An age-specific class containing ballet, tap, and jazz/creative movement.  The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one.

The use of fun, age-appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. Props such as maracas for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!

Hip-Hop/Flip-Flop – ages 3-4 & 4-5:  Do you have a dancer that never stops moving? This class is for those high energy, sassy little ones who are always ready to show off their new dance moves.  It will combine high energy hip-hop basics (only age-appropriate music and movements) with basic acrobatic and tumbling skills. This is a great addition to ballet and tap.

Ballet:  Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms.  It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Tap:  Tap is an exciting rhythmic exercise and dance form which is enjoyable to both kids and adults.  Tap classes provide a look inside a truly American dance tradition that develops coordination, concentration, rhythm, and speed.  It also helps with math!  Repeating, reversing and counting the rhythm patterns reinforces math concepts that younger students are learning in school.

Jazz:  Jazz combines many styles and techniques from ethnic and contemporary dance, to ballet.  Rhythm, upon which all dance forms depend, is particularly integral to jazz dance which builds techniques to develop flexibility, strength, and coordination.

Hip-Hop:  Hip-Hop incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip-hop music.  Hip-hop dancing is very dynamic and helps the dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance, and coordination.

Acrobatics:  Acrobatics is the art form of using slow, controlled movements to achieve flexibility, balance, and agility.  Students learn the proper technique necessary to achieve and further develop their acrobatic skills.  This class is strictly floor work (no bars/beams).
